先週、JICAの会合で首都に滞在した。首都在住のにしいちえちゃんにドミニカ共和国の首都、サントドミンゴの写真を紹介していた時、ああ、カラフルで楽しいなあと思った。ディエブグは茶色い地面と茶色い建物にあせた色が少しあるだけで、茶色いなーと。せっかく何にもないんだし、じゃあ作ってみようか、と思った。カラフルで変なモダンアートみたいな抽象的なオブジェを作って、街においてみようか、と。
Being called from JICA, I was back in the capital of Burkina Faso last week. As I was showing some photos of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to my friend Chie, I realized that our city of Diebougou is very brown. I see brown sandy ground and brown buildings with some fading colors being painted years ago. I decided to give some colors to Diebougou. I decided to make some colorful abstruct art objects and place them in the center of Diebougou (not sure where that be.)
ちえちゃんが、みゆの要請は保健衛生なんだから、人がゴミを捨てたくなる様なおっきく口を開けたゴミ箱のオブジェでも作ればいいと言った。
同じディエブグ在住のやまだに言ったら、じゃあゴミがいっぱいあるから、ゴミを使ってオブジェを作ろうよ、そして、子供と一緒にやりたいなあと言った。
月曜日にディエブグに帰るので、私はとりあえず、こないだやまだに紹介された、街の真ん中に住んでいる、鳥をいっぱい飼っているおじさんに会って話してみる事にした。
Chie said "As you are supposed to work for something related to sanitations or healths, you can make some garbage boxes that make people wanna throw garbage into."
Yamada, who also is at Diebougou said "I wanna make arts out of garbage and wanna involve kids in the project."
As I go back to Diebougou on Monday, I decided to go meet a guy who grew turkeys at home to talk about my idea of this new project.
火曜日
朝、BALAと呼ばれる鳥のおじさんに話をしたら、とてもノリノリで、人を紹介するからお昼にまたおいでと言われた。お昼まで暇になった私はこないだ出逢った、バレーボールのコートで警備員のバイトをしているペインターのKindaさんを呼び出した。彼をアート隊長にする為だ。彼のアトリエに行って話をしたら、いいよいいよやろうとまあ半分適当なポジティブなお返事をいただいた。そしてお昼、鳥のおじさんは私を高校の図書館で働くSawadogoさんと、ゴミ回収アソシエーションを取り締まるBLANと呼ばれるダンディな男性に紹介した。子供にアートと衛生の授業を少しして、そのあとゴミでアートを作りたい、という私に、学校の校長に話さなければ、学校の休みの日があるからその日にやろう、子供だけじゃない、大人にも教えよう、などなどといろんな事を言ってくれた。ディエブグにゴミを回収している人がいることすら知らなかった私は、とりあえず今週はBLANと一緒に行動し、ゴミ回収アソシエーションを手伝うことにした。
Tuesday
In the morning, I told Mr. BALA, the guy with turkeys, about my idea and he was very excited about it. He told me to come back at noon as he will introduce me to some other people who might be interested, I left there then to talk with Mr. Kinda, the painter of Diebougou. I told Mr. Kinda as well my idea. He didn't look as enthrusiastic as Mr. BALA but he accepted to work as the art leader of my project. At noon, Mr. BALA introduced me to Mr. Sawagodo who works at a school library and Mr. BLAN who runs an association of collecting garbage. As I said I wanna give some lessons of arts and health at school for kids and make arts with them out of garbage, they asked me questions and gave me ideas. Me, who didn't even know that there is a garbage collection association in Diebougou, decided to work with BLAN for this week to see how things go and do not go.

水曜日
朝９時、BLANに言われた場所に行ってみると、５、６人の男たちが鎌を片手に私の背丈ほどにのび切った草たちを刈っていた。今週の土曜日にこの場所にディエブグの色々なアソシエーションが集まるのでその準備をしているのだそうだ。私も働く事にした。鎌使いが下手すぎて邪魔なので、木の棒をもって刈られた草たちを集める事にした。大体２時間くらい働いた。あつかった。集めた草たちは燃やした。労働の後、自分は誰で何がしたいのかを話した。皆関心はなさそうだったが一緒に働いたので少し仲間みたいな感じはした。
Wednesday
9A.M. as I showed up at the location being told by BLAN, I saw some 5 or 6 men with a sickle in a hand, mowing the grass. They said they are preparing for an event that will be held at this location this coming Saturday, an event that many associations in Diebougou will gather. I decided to work with them. I was so bad at using the sickle, I decided to take the role of collecting mowed grass to one place in order to burn them later. About 2 hours, we worked together under the heat. I told them who I am and what I want to do. They didn't seem being interested but I sensed some feeling of companionship between us after sweating together for a while.

木曜日
朝８時半、同じ場所に行った。昨日と同じメンバーもいたし、そうでないメンバーもいた。私は昨日（夜は別の事をしていた）の疲れがたまって、眠くて眠くて仕方なかったので、働いている皆を１時間くらい観察したりちょっと働いたりした後に家に帰って寝た。睡眠は大切だ。やはり日中はあつくて、自分の身体はまだこの気候に慣れていないらしく、簡単に疲れる。
Thursday
8:30A.M I went there again. I saw some same people from yesterday and some others I met for the first time. I was super tired this morning (I was doing something else until late yesterday night) and super sleepy. So after I observed them working about 1 hour, I went home to take a nap. During the day in Burkina is still a bit too hot for me. I get tired so easily. Sleep is important.

朝９時集合。先日私が手伝って草刈りをしたのとは反対側のスペースに、テントを作った。なぜあそこの草を刈ったのだろうかという疑問がうまれるほどに、草を刈ったところからは遠い所にテントが張られた。あっちは？と自分が手伝った方をさすと、あっちは今年は使わないよ、と言われた。とりあえず全部きれいにしようということか。なににしろ、テントが完成し、あとは明日の会合だ。

9 A.M. We made a long roof for tomorrow's event in the space where is contrary side to where I helped mowing the grass the other day. I asked what the space we mowed will be used for. They said this year they are not going to use that space... Why did we mow the grass over there if the space is not needed for the event...? Anyway, everything is pretty much ready and tomorrow is the day.

土曜日
朝８時集合。テント周りをほうきやらなんやらで最後のお掃除。８時半から行われる、いろんなアソシエーションが集まる会議に参加するため、掃除しているみんなをおいて、BLANについて別場所へ移動する。この日はやまだも来てくれた。会議には首都や中都市のガワなどからも人が来ていて、ちょっと上流な感じだった。午後は今週私が毎朝通った会場へ。シアバターの石けんを作る女性団体や、コンドームを配るエイズ撲滅団体など、いくつかの団体が集まって小さな市場ができあがった。私の仲間たちは、手洗い啓発のパネルを手に持って、つったっていた。啓発に意義を見いだしているのはどうやら代表のBLANだけのようで、皆、どうしたらいいのやらみたいな顔をしてつったていてかわいかった。彼らはテントを張っているときの方が活き活きしている。私はまるでBLANのグループの偉い人みたいな顔をして、皆の横につったっていた。でも、なんだかとてもとても楽しかった。
Saturday
8A.M. We cleaned the ground with some brooms. I left there with BLAN at 8:30 to attend a conference that all the leaders of associations gather. Yamada came to join us today. In the afternoon, I came back and saw my new companions having some "washing hands" panels in their hands and standing at the booth. It seemed like BLAN is the only person who is very enthrusiastic about the activity and other companions were just standing there without knowing what they were doing. I loved them being there trying to do their work without knowing what that are. They were adorable. I also standed there with them with wearing a T-shit that other Japanese Volunteers made for some other "Washing Hands" events. We all just stood there as BLAN explained the objectives of the event to some rich guy. I loved being with them all. I had so much fun. I was happy.

日曜日
今週のことを書いている。一週間でずいぶんと沢山の人に出逢い、沢山の事を知ったと思う。ディエブグにある色々なアソシエーションの人々と出会い、仲間もできたし、動き出したらすぐに次につながっている。明日は週に一度のゴミ回収の日だ。来週は何が起きるかな。とても、楽しみだ。
Sunday
I'm recalling about this week. I've met many people and I've learned many things. I've met many active people from many associations in Diebougou, I've made some companions. As I make an action, on the next day, I see some progress being made. Tomorrow is the once-a-week garbage collecting day. I am looking forward to what I am encountering next week.
